Stir frying is the quickest way to prepare for a weekday dinner at home after a tired day at work.  People are now resorting to stir frying as the best solution and alternative to a pizza night other than take outs and dinner out nights.  Besides, stir frying is very economical and can even extend a few pieces of protein, just mix it with vegetables and serve a small family for a quiet dinner.  One of the best ways in preparing for stir frying is having in advance a flavorful sauce that could serve your stir fry whenever you need it.  Here are some very practical stir fry recipe sauce that might just serve that purpose.

1.    VEGETABLE STIR FRY WITH HONEY GARLIC SAUCE: We have taken this somewhere from a scratch but you could just buy a jar of honey garlic sauce and use as much as you want.  We can utilize a bunch of vegetables in the fridge that are no longer part of a main dish, which means your veggies can really vary according to your stock.

  • The sauce:
  • ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tablespoon cornstarch
  • ¾ cup water
  • 3 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 cloves of garlic, chopped (or use 2 tablespoon garlic powder)
  • 1/23 large red onion, diced
  • 2 large carrots, chopped into thin slices
  • 1.5 stalks broccoli (use the flowerets, not the stalk)
  • 1 yellow pepper
  • ½ green pepper
  • 1 red pepper
  • 2 stalks celery
  • 2 cloves garlic

  • Put white rice on your steamer to cook for about an hour, timed before your dinner is ready since it takes awhile to cook the rice.
  • Chop vegetables on how you like it for the stir fry.
  • Spray large frying pan with cooking oil, add onion, carrots and garlic, cooking for about 5 to 10 minutes until the carrots are semi-soft, or crisp tender.
  • Then add the rest of the veggies, cooking for another 10 to 20 minutes or until they are soft, and reduce the heat.
  • In another sauce pan, you can now mix the brown sugar and cornstarch, and then add water, the soy sauce, the honey and garlic.
  • Heat the sauce until it boils and then reduce the heat to medium low till it simmers for 2 minutes.
  • When the sauce is ready, add it to the vegetables (all or just some).
  • Serve with the brown rice while it is hot and makes 4 to 6 servings depending on how you eat.
