Our Favorite Beef Stir Fry

Beef Stir Fry
Beef Stir Fry
A beef stir fry can be a very succulent and juicy dish if it is sautéed perfectly with a very savory sauce.  This is a great solution if you want to have beef for dinner mixed with vegetables.  Because stir fries are now very popular in the globe, the internet would be the best source for wonderful recipes for home cooking.  Many housewives depend on cookery sites in the internet for their recipes and often choose beef stir fries as their favorite dishes for weeknights.  A single slice of steak can even be extended to serve two to three persons as long as you have the vegetables and stir fry sauce at hand for the cooking.   Simply cut the steak into bite sizes and with the vegetables, throw them in high flame in your wok and then sauté it with your favorite stir fry sauce, then you have dinner in your table.   We love beef as protein for our stir fries at home.  Maybe because we love the aromatic fragrance of beef when they are cooked especially if they are sautéed with the main ingredient for stir frying which is the soy sauce.  The taste makes it very familiar to what we have acquired through the years of stir frying.   We will share in this article a traditional beef stir fry that we always do at home.  This recipe has been with our family for more than three generations.  We love it so much and hope you will like it too.

This Sesame Beef Stir Fry Is An Easy Chinese Recipe

Beef Stir Fry
Beef Stir Fry
This sesame beef stir fry is a creation from scratches in our kitchen and we wanted to share it in this article for added fun and adventure in your kitchens.  Provided you are not a vegetarian, it is important to include red meat in your child’s diet, as red meat provides the richest source of iron, and iron deficiency is the most common nutritional deficiency in children today. This Sesame Beef stir fry is an easy Chinese recipe that will introduce new flavors exactly the same taste and soft texture as proper steak fillet.  It can be prepared in three minutes and cooked in twelve minutes.  The recipe can yield four servings on regular sizes, and it is also good for kids aging four to ten years old.  Our creativity led us to create this recipe starting from scratch, but with basis on Chinese cooking.

THE INGREDIENTS:
  • One tablespoon of sesame oil
  • One garlic clove, crushed
  • One medium carrot cut into matchsticks
  • 100 grams of baby sweet corn cut into quarters
  • One half yellow bell pepper, seeded and cut into matchsticks
  • One courgette (approximately one hundred grams), cut into matchsticks
  • Three hundred grams of beef fillet, or rump steak cut into very fine strips
  • One tablespoon of cornstarch or corn flour
  • One hundred fifty ml beef stock
  • Two tablespoons of dark brown sugar
  • Two tablespoons of soy sauce
  • A few drops of Tabasco sauce
  • One tablespoon of sesame seeds
THE PROCEDURE:

  • Start by cooking the veggies first.  Heat your wok or a large skillet over high heat on your American stove.  Add the oil and wait till it is hot.
  • Then add the garlic first and stir for a few seconds, then add the carrots, the baby sweet corn and the courgette.  Stir fry for another three to four minutes until the veggies are tender crisp.
  • Then carefully add the beef strips and continue to stir fry for another four to five minutes.  Make sure that the beef are well distributed in the wok and in stir frying, make sure that most of them pass through the center of the wok where the heat is.  Do not burn the ingredients.
  • The mix the corn flour or cornstarch with a tablespoon of water and stir to the beef stock.  Add this mixture to the pan with the soy sauce, the sugar and the Tabasco and sesame seeds.
  • Heat until it boils then lower the heat to simmer till the sauce thickens.  Taste-test the sauce if it is not so spicy for the kids. If spicy, add a few tablespoons of water.
  • Serve immediately while hot.  Great to pair with steamed rice.
  • Enjoy this beef stir fry and it is easy and fun to do in your own kitchen.   If you are not serving kids, you can be creative by adding more Tabasco sauce for added heat.  Some even like more heat so they use red pepper flakes according to their desire.   If you are familiar with the Sriracha sauce, it had more bite and heat in it.  You can substitute Tabasco with it and enjoy the heat you desire.  This great to go with bear too.  Have fun and enjoy this dish at home.

Beef Stir Fry

Beef Stir Fry
Beef stir fry recipes are commonly describe as a combination of a little beef strips with a lot of vegetables sautéed by a choice of herbs and spicy sauces.   These recipes are made popular through Chinese Cuisines and Oriental restaurants that go very well with steamed cooked rice.
We are not lovers of Chinese food but children like my son have learned to like them so we have been trying a few new dishes for him.  There are some we like but there are really those that we don’t think we will ever like.

The biggest problems with Chinese food are its salt content.  Our blood pressures have slowly been rising for a few years now and so we are trying to control the amount of salt in our food hoping to avoid future preventive medication and maintenance.  So in our research, we found this recipe that we believe is healthy yet still tasty and savory to our taste. This one is easy to make and definitely has a lot less salt than most recipes.

THE BEEF AND BROCCOLI STIR FRY RECIPE.

INGREDIENTS:
  • One half cup cold water
  • Two tablespoons of cornstarch
  • Two tablespoons of soy sauce (choose the low sodium type)
  • One pound of stir fry beef (ready cut into strips)
  • One tablespoon of vegetables oil or canola oil
  • One fourth teaspoon of freshly grated ginger
  • One head of broccoli. cleaned and cut
  • One cup of carrot matchsticks (using a large carrot, peel and cut into halves then sliced into matchsticks)
  • One cup of orange juice (freshly squeezed if you have them on hand)
  • Four cups of hot steamed rice
THE PROCEDURE:
  • In a mixing bowl, combine together the water, the soy sauce and the cornstarch.  Stir them until smooth and the cornstarch is dissolved leaving no lumps.  Then rest for frying.
  • Soaked the broccoli florets on warm water for a few minutes to soften.  Drain the water and pat dry the florets.
  • To begin frying, heat a wok over medium high heat on your American stove.  Add the vegetable oil and wait till it is hot.
  • Then you can add the beef strips to the wok and stir fry them till lightly browned.
  • Then you can add the garlic and the ginger and continue stirring.  Then add the carrots to the wok.
  • Simmer until the beef is browned perhaps for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Without removing the beef strips, add the broccoli florets and stir fry until the beef is thoroughly cooked and the broccoli and carrots are as tender as you desire.  This method differs from the other method of removing the beef, before stir frying the veggies after which the beef strips are returned. Try it, it is simple and easy.
  • Then add the orange juice and heat the wok until boiling.
  • Then stir in the cornstarch mixture and cook for one to two minutes more until the sauce thickens.
  • Serve immediately while hot over hot steamed rice.  This is a saucy dish and you will enjoy them well.
  • You can prepare this beef stir fry in your kitchen in exactly 30 minutes.  Have fun and continue stir frying too.

  • Be sure to season your oil before stir frying your beef (when wok is hot, add oil, and once it starts to smoke, add garlic and ginger to season the oil, and stir till fragrant).
  • Heat the pan again and add oil.  Once the oil is hot, add the garlic and the gingerroot.  Stir till the garlic turns brown in color and add the vegetables.   In adding the vegetables, start with the broccoli florets, then the onion and the peppers last.   Continue stir frying for about four minutes till the broccoli is tender and crisp.
  • Then return the beef to the pan.  Stir and toss to completely mix the beef and vegetables.
  • Finally, add the cornstarch and the reserved marinade into the pan.   Simply bring to a boil by not cover the pan.  Stir and toss the ingredients until the sauce thickens.
